My name is Gary and I’ve lived in the greater Orlando area since 2019. I grew up in NYC, went to high school in San Francisco and lived in Salt Lake City for 15 years before landing here in Florida.

I’ve tried dating sites and the results are typically awkward shots in the dark lol. So I thought why not give something new a try to see how it goes.

As for things about me more personally I love animals probably more than I love people at this point (haha) and have 8 (!) cats at home who are my babies. I enjoy nerdy stuff like theme parks and video games, technology. I can go out or veg at home.

As for music I grew up on Elvis Costello, Devo, and general ‘College Rock’ as it was called at the time. I loved Depeche Mode in my teens after going through my KMFDM phase. But today I’m rediscovering old things, things I missed entirely and new stuff I’ve never heard before. I recently listened to Cab Calloway for example, so that’s a pretty diverse spectrum.

For work I do a typical day job, by Florida standards. By night… … I am not Batman (at night I’m asleep actually lol) but my hobbies include films, and I developed some lower budget stuff that really doesn’t pay enough that I don’t need a day job. One was based on a video game! But I definitely need some different hobbies! Maybe golf?

Finally, something recently spoken by actress Courtney Henlegger on her retiring from acting after 20 years of similar struggles as mine in a loop really stuck out to me as powerful, motivating stuff to stop being hindered by the confines of anything we place limits on regarding ourselves that affect our ultimate output:

“What if we choose to believe we have the power?” she wrote. “What if we had it all along? What if we have been handing our power away because we have been told that this is how it is done. We lose perspective on our own machine, because we are convinced we need another. We wait for power to be bestowed upon us. We sign up for the gauntlets. We run the gauntlet, to prove our worth. To earn our place. To be crowned the power. What if we never needed to run the gauntlet? What if we are the gauntlet?”
